It is our intent to keep "Rocket" as stock as possible, with any modifications either being for safety or easily reversible. So far, these include:
- Electric wipers
- Seat Belts
- A CD Player (Requiring a hole in the glove box cardboard. Larger speakers were mounted under the dash without modifying anything. The existing radio still works as well).
Rocket is a daily driver driven all year round. Our 20 footer is very complete, but has a rusty floor and almost totally rusted out driver side rocker panels. A major restoration will have to be done soon.
FAQ
- Q: "Is it all original?"
A: Mostly, but Rocket seems to have had a paint job at some time in the not too distant past. - Q: "You let your teenager (a relatively new driver) drive it?!!"
A: Yes. With the rust in the floor and rockers, I know I need to do some body work eventually anyways. :-) [Update: In the end it was my lovely wife that ended up having to stop Rocket using a post. We were lucky to have an experienced driver behind the wheel when the brakes let go.]
